I will link to it and post a few of my favorites, however I refuse to link to my wife’s “50 Reasons to not date a geek” since it would make me look bad.

This really isn’t much of a shock, but has taken the net by storm. Google has released it’s own browser. Before getting into any specifics, I will give some first impressions. I use IE6 at work (requirement), and Firefox3 with various extentions. (FF being my browser of choice at the moment.) That being said – Chrome is impressive. I have seen massive speed improvements in my normal sites. (Google Reader being the most impressive speed difference, though I should have expected that.)

There has been some dissention out there. Chrome is too basic, doesn’t yet support Extentions, new version of Firefox (3.1) will make this pointless, the Default EUAL, etc. Some of these have a valid point. Â On the other hand – it is a rock solid beta application. Â How many other betas have we gotten from MS that crashed repeatedly. Â FF has been pretty good about this in its newer versions.

Follow some of the links above for more information, I will also be posting some resources links below. Â I would encourage people out there to try it for themselves and form their own oppinion. Â I for one am looking forward to seeing what it becomes, though not ready yet to make a full switch from Firefox. Â (The process per tab works really well.)

What is planned? That is an interesting question. For a while there, this site kind of went stagnant… between other blogs, real life, etc… it just went by the wayside. Well one of the changes I am testing out (after moving hosts, upgrading code again, etc) is some RSS aggregation posts. IE – pulling in geek news from big hitters. (ie the geek of the geek sites.)
Whether or not I will keep doing this, not exactly sure. I prefer to create my own content, even if it is a few comments and a link to another story. (Which is what the aggregation post is doing – title and content all link back to the author of the post.)
SGB is coming back – thats the plan. I need to revamp, and probably reduce or limit the outside content and get back to producing our own here. So I do encourage the readers who are still with us… keep track!

Well if it isn’t already apparent… it’s been a slow couple of weeks for SGB. I’d imagine we can use the hectic nature of this time of year as an excuse. I plan to get back into the habit of regular postings to SGB as well as some new developments in the way of unique content for our readers (I know you guys are out there somewhere).

While I work on some of above mentioned content why don’t you guys checkout a couple of things I’ve found useful/cool as of late.
TightVNC (Another free VNC remote desktop application similar to openVNC)
MythTV (Setup your own free PVR using an old computer and a tuner card)
Portable CE 2.0 (The man over at Furry Goat gets a nice Windows CE virtual machine running off a USB thumbdrive. I did this on mine at it works great!)

I’d also like to remind everyone to checkout Digital Life TV every Tuesday and Thursday for a good free tech videocast. I also highly recomment “Security Now” and “In the Trenches” podcasts for those of you who aren’t doing anything at work (You know who you are you slackers.. . Stream them if you don’t have an mp3 player you won’t be disappointed. Maybe someday I can con Jake and Shane into helping me do an SGB podcast. In the meantime enjoy these shows and dream about how much better and SGB podcast would be (Just Kidding of course…).

That about wraps it for now keep checking back!
